selects UAE representatives at eGov
Award, Exhibition and Conference
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) an-
nounced the category winners who were given the hon-
or to represent the UAE at the third GCC eGovernment
Award which will be held in Dubai from 9-11 December at
the Intercontinental Dubai Festival City Hotel.
Held every two years, the GCC
eGovernment Award aims to honor
government ministries, entities and
authorities who follow the interna-
tional relative best practices and
excel in using Information and Com-
munications Technology (ICT) tools
to provide services and data.
In the UAE, nominations have been
submitted across seven categories
of the award that include: best Gov-
ernment eService, best Government
Interoperable eService, best Govern-
ment-to-Government Shared Ser-
vice, best Government Portal, best
Application for Smart Device, best
Government eParticipation Practice
and best eInitiative.
Commenting on the event, Hamad
Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Deputy Di-
rector General for Information and
eGovernment Sector and Head of
mGovernment Committee clarified
that the commitment by government
entities across the GCC to develop
eGovernment is clearly reflected in
the effort each of the GCC countries
is taking to unify the vision of better
serving their citizens.
“Dubai Smart Gov” plans for a shared
disaster recovery site
Dubai Smart Government, in col-
laboration with other government
entities, is conducting a feasibility
study for a Shared Disaster Recov-
ery Site (SDRS) in Dubai. This is in
compliance with the recent Dubai
Government Information Security
Regulation for managing a secure
government information security en-
vironment, ensure business continu-
ity and contribute to the sustainable
development of Dubai as a smart
city.
The feasibility study is being con-
ducted by specialized teams from 31
government entities in Dubai, and it
aims to evaluate the current capa-
